The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Social Worker to join the Adolescence Emotional Support & Homeless Prevention Team in Lewisham. This role is focused specifically on working with 16 and 17-year-olds who are at risk of homelessness or experiencing emotional distress. You will play a key role in providing support, intervention, and safeguarding measures to ensure positive outcomes for young people.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with 16- and 17-year-olds who are at risk of homelessness or require emotional support.

  • Undertake assessments, including Child in Need and Child Protection assessments, ensuring appropriate support plans are in place.

  • Collaborate with housing teams, mental health services, and other partner agencies to secure suitable accommodation and support for young people.

  • Provide crisis intervention and advocacy for young people navigating complex situations.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Housing Act 1996.

  • Maintain accurate case records and produce high-quality reports for legal proceedings if required.

  • Work within a hybrid model, with a combination of office-based, home-based, and direct outreach work.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.

  • Experience working with adolescents, particularly those at risk of homelessness or emotional distress.

  • Strong knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures.

  • Ability to manage complex cases and work collaboratively with multi-agency teams.

  • Experience in crisis intervention and risk assessment.
