Leicester City Council is looking for an experienced Adult Social Worker to join their Locality Team. This role needs someone confident, resilient, and properly organised — you’ll be managing a complex caseload where strong risk management, defensible decision-making, and consistent practice standards are non-negotiable.
About the Role
You’ll complete statutory social work with adults and their carers, balancing safeguarding, legal literacy, and strengths-based practice. The work is varied and often high risk, so you’ll need to be comfortable working at pace, holding complexity, and progressing cases to clear outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Manage a complex adult social care caseload, progressing work in a timely and structured way

Complete Care Act 2014 assessments, reviews, and support planning

Undertake Mental Capacity Act assessments and lead Best Interest decision-making

Lead and contribute to Section 42 safeguarding enquiries and multi-agency risk planning

Coordinate with health and partner agencies to support safe discharge planning and community support

Complete high-quality recording, analysis, and reports that stand up to scrutiny

Apply strengths-based practice while maintaining clear professional boundaries and accountability

Contribute to duty / locality workflows as required by the service
Practice Model
The team works in a strengths-based, outcomes-focused way, with an emphasis on proportionate interventions, positive risk management, and partnership working. You’ll be expected to evidence your rationale, keep the person’s voice central, and deliver practice that meets statutory requirements.
Requirements

Social Work degree (or equivalent) and registration with Social Work England

Proven experience working in Adult Social Care locality / complex statutory settings

Strong working knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and adult safeguarding

Confident managing complexity, prioritising effectively, and maintaining high-quality recording

Able to work on a hybrid basis with 2 office days per week at Gilmour Close
