Havering Borough Council is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join their Adults Safeguarding team. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leadership role within a well-respected local authority, taking ownership of complex safeguarding work while supporting best practice and mentoring others across the team.

Key Responsibilities

Lead on complex adult safeguarding enquiries under Section 42 of the Care Act

Offer consultation and professional support to frontline Social Workers

Conduct high-quality risk assessments and develop safeguarding plans
-
Liaise effectively with multi-agency partners, including health, police, and advocacy
-
Promote and embed best practice within the team

Maintain accurate, timely case recording and reporting
Candidate Requirements
-
Social Work England registration
-
Minimum of 4 years’ post-qualified experience in adult social care
-
In-depth knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding frameworks
-
Strong assessment, decision-making, and leadership skills
-
Experience supporting or mentoring colleagues
-
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to complete one)
