Havering Borough Council is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join their Adults Safeguarding team. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leadership role within a well-respected local authority, taking ownership of complex safeguarding work while supporting best practice and mentoring others across the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on complex adult safeguarding enquiries under Section 42 of the Care Act

  • Offer consultation and professional support to frontline Social Workers

  • Conduct high-quality risk assessments and develop safeguarding plans

  • Liaise effectively with multi-agency partners, including health, police, and advocacy

  • Promote and embed best practice within the team

  • Maintain accurate, timely case recording and reporting

Candidate Requirements

  • Social Work England registration

  • Minimum of 4 years’ post-qualified experience in adult social care

  • In-depth knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding frameworks

  • Strong assessment, decision-making, and leadership skills

  • Experience supporting or mentoring colleagues

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to complete one)
