Advanced Practitioner – Corporate Parenting – London

Location: London Borough of Harrow
Pay/Salary: Up to £40.50 per hour (Umbrella)

We are currently working with the London Borough of Harrow to find an experienced Advanced Practitioner for their Corporate Parenting Service. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced children's social worker looking to combine complex casework with practice leadership, supporting other practitioners to deliver consistently high standards of social work.

You'll hold a reduced caseload of complex, high-risk and high-profile cases while providing support and supervision to up to four Social Workers. As an Advanced Practitioner, you'll play an important role in developing practice across the service through mentoring, reflective learning, quality assurance and supporting practitioners with complex decision-making.

Duties

  • Managing a reduced caseload of complex, high-risk and high-profile cases.
  • Providing casework supervision, guidance and support to up to four Social Workers.
  • Supporting practitioners to develop their skills in managing increasingly complex cases.
  • Providing professional guidance around risk, safeguarding, Child Protection and Public Law Outline procedures.
  • Promoting systemic and evidence-based approaches to social work practice.
  • Facilitating reflective discussions, peer challenge and systemic thinking within the service.
  • Supporting quality assurance activity and maintaining consistently high standards of practice.
  • Mentoring less experienced practitioners and delivering learning opportunities and best-practice sessions.
  • Working collaboratively with multi-agency professionals to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
  • Supporting service management and deputising where required.

What you need

  • Social Work Qualification.
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Enhanced DBS (provided by us).
  • Significant post-qualified experience within statutory Children's Social Care.
  • Experience managing complex, high-risk cases.
  • Experience supporting, supervising or mentoring Social Workers.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, Child Protection and PLO processes.
  • Excellent analytical, assessment and leadership skills.
  • Experience applying systemic and evidence-based approaches to practice.
  • Practice Educator Award is desirable.
