Are you an expert social worker with a passion for making a difference in the lives of children with complex needs? The London Borough of Lewisham is looking for a dedicated Advanced Practitioner to join our Children with Complex Needs Team. This role is pivotal in managing the most challenging and complex cases, providing high-quality reflective practice, and supporting our vision, values, and practice framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expert Case Management: Handle the most challenging and complex cases, ensuring that children, young people, and families receive the highest standard of care and support.
  • Reflective Practice: Model and support reflective practice within the team, ensuring alignment with local standards and the borough’s vision.
  • Leadership & Supervision: Deputize for the Team Manager, offering supervision, advice, mentoring, and consultation to newly qualified and less experienced social workers.
  • Performance Management: Manage and evaluate colleagues' performance in accordance with the Assessed Supported Year in Employment (AYSE) and Council policies.
  • Professional Development: Promote the continuing professional development of team members, facilitating practice development and group supervision sessions.

About You:

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Social Work England Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience in Disabilities Services: Proven experience working within disabilities services and collaborating with related services such as Short Breaks, transitions, and adult services.
  • Expertise in Complex Cases: A clear understanding of complex cases, case planning, and providing appropriate support for vulnerable children and young people.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities to mentor and supervise less experienced colleagues effectively.
  • Commitment to Development: A commitment to the professional development of colleagues and the ability to lead team practice development sessions.
