Position: Advanced Practitioner
Team: MASH – South Advice & Guidance Service
Contract: Locum
Hours: 35 hours per week
Pay Rate: £37 per hour
Location: Manchester
Sheldon Phillips are working with Manchester City Council to appoint an Advanced Practitioner within their South Advice and Guidance Service. This role focuses on high-quality screening of all contacts received, ensuring that children and families receive the right support at the right time. As a senior member of the team, you will also contribute to quality assurance activity and support less experienced staff in maintaining consistent, safe practice.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Complete robust screening of all incoming contacts to determine appropriate next steps

Apply strong analytical and safeguarding skills to identify risk and need

Dip-sample casework and contribute to quality assurance processes

Support and guide less experienced staff within the Advice & Guidance Service

Participate in multi-agency review meetings and information-sharing forums

Provide advice at drop-in sessions and promote consistent thresholds

Ensure timely, accurate recording and high standards of professional practice
Requirements:

SWE Registration

Social Work qualification
-
Extensive post-qualified experience in MASH, Duty/Assessment, or similar front-door services

Strong safeguarding, analytical, and risk assessment skills

Experience supporting or mentoring colleagues

Confident, proactive, and able to make sound, defensible decisions
