Advanced Practitioner – Children with Disabilities

Full Time | Hybrid Working

I’m working with Brent Council to recruit an Advanced Practitioner in their Children with Disabilities Team – this is a full-time locum role offering hybrid working and a rate of £40.50 per hour.

This is a great opportunity to take on a more senior role within a specialist team, working with disabled children and their families across Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After pathways.

What the role involves:

• Carrying a small but complex caseload involving children with profound and multiple disabilities

• Leading on assessments and reviews, including direct work with children and families

• Providing support and oversight to Social Workers within the team – offering guidance, mentoring and quality assurance

• Attending and contributing to strategy meetings, child protection conferences, and core group meetings

• Working closely with education, health, SEN and short breaks services to ensure families get the right support

• Acting as a point of escalation for more complex or high-risk cases

What you’ll need:

• Social Work England registration

• Strong post-qualifying experience in children’s services, ideally with a focus on disabilities

• A good understanding of relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989 and the Care Act 2014

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment

• Previous experience in a senior or decision-making role would be ideal

The team is really well-established and supportive, with a good balance between working from home and time in the office to collaborate with colleagues.
