Job Overview:

Are you an experienced Social Worker with a passion for safeguarding children? We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Practitioner (AP) Social Worker to join our MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) team above London. This locum role offers a competitive hourly rate of £33.50.

Key Responsibilities:

• Screening and Assessment: Support the screening process within the Integrated Front Door (MASH) to ensure that new referrals are reviewed in a timely manner. Use collected information to risk assess cases according to the level of risk and need, deciding on the most appropriate intervention for the child's identified needs.
• Facilitate Multi-Agency Meetings: Organize and lead multi-agency meetings with partner agencies. These will include information sharing discussions and reviews regarding Children in Need and Children in Need of Protection.
• Monitoring and Evaluation: Routinely monitor the quality and effectiveness of information sharing and professional judgement about the appropriate response to children whose needs require either early help or social work-led assessment and support.
• Line Management and Supervision: Provide line management and professional supervision to the Social Care Professionals within the MASH Team. This includes performance and development activities to ensure staff can provide a high and improving quality of service.
• Communication and Liaison: Communicate and liaise with other agencies, giving and receiving highly complex and sensitive information. Liaise with other departments within the directorate and external agencies, both statutory and voluntary.
• Specialist Advice: Offer specialist advice to staff, including individual case advice, professional responsibilities guidelines, and legal requirements.
• Operational Support: Deputize in the Manager’s absence to ensure the smooth operation of the service area.
• Professional Conduct: Adhere to the relevant Registered Professional bodies' Code of Professional Conduct.

Requirements:

• Social Work England (SWE) registration is essential.
• At least 2 years of experience in statutory children’s social work, with a strong background in safeguarding.
• Experience working within a MASH team or similar environment.
• Excellent assessment, planning, and intervention skills.
• Ability to lead and facilitate multi-agency meetings and information sharing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of handling complex and sensitive information.
• Experience in providing line management and professional supervision.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make informed decisions under pressure.
