Position: Assessment Social Worker (Non-Case Holding)
Team: Safeguarding Service
Contract: Locum – 3 months +
Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: £33.30 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Lifford House, Birmingham
Sheldon Phillips are working with Birmingham City Council, who are seeking a Parent Assess-trained Social Worker to join their dedicated Safeguarding Service on a locum basis. This role is non-case holding, allowing you to focus purely on high-quality assessments that inform robust decision-making for children and families.
What You Can Expect:
- Work within a supportive and experienced safeguarding team
- Manage a focused workload of 9–11 assessments at a time
- Contribute to key decision-making without the demands of case holding
- Opportunities to showcase analytical and report-writing skills in a court-based context
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete a range of assessments, including:
- Parenting Assessments
- Child Impact Reports
- Initial Viability Assessments
- Permanence Reports
- Together and Apart Assessments
- Risk Assessments
- Develop and maintain clear assessment timetables
- Provide progress updates to the Team Manager and allocated Social Worker
- Prepare comprehensive reports and present findings confidently in court where required
Requirements:
- SWE Registration
- Social Work qualification
- Must be Parent Assess trained
- Proven experience completing high-quality, analytical assessments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in court work
- Experience using Eclipse is desirable but not essential
