We are seeking an experienced Children's Social Care Assistant Team Manager or an ambitious Senior Social Worker with management and supervisory experience to join our clients Family Safeguarding Team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and young people.

In this role, you will work closely with the Team Manager, stepping in to deputise when needed and helping to deliver our vision and strategic values. You will provide direct supervision to social workers, including newly qualified social workers, students, and support staff. Supporting the Team Manager, you will play a key role in driving performance, ensuring effective care planning, and delivering needs-led services and interventions for children and families.

Your responsibilities will also include assisting with staff recruitment and retention, as well as chairing meetings as required.

We are looking for someone who can build strong professional relationships and demonstrate excellent assessment and analytical skills. A solid understanding of assessment, planning, and intervention is essential, as you will be a key member of the management team.

To be considered, you must be registered with Social Work England and have substantial post-qualifying experience working with children and families in the statutory sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management Support: Assist the Team Manager in overseeing the team, including recruitment and retention, induction, training, performance management, disciplinary matters, and succession planning.
  • Supervision & Performance Monitoring: Provide high-quality, reflective supervision in line with policy, offering constructive feedback and performance analysis.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Lead Strategy Discussions, Child in Need meetings, and professional forums, working with partner agencies to ensure safe, proportionate decision-making and effective planning.
  • Performance Tracking & Quality Assurance: Regularly review and track performance data alongside the Team Manager, complete audits, and contribute to audit programmes and frameworks.
  • Child-Centered Practice: Ensure children and young people’s voices are heard, recorded, and acted upon in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Parental & Carer Engagement: Work proactively with parents and carers, incorporating their views into service improvements and responding to complaints and feedback.
