About the Role:
Are you an experienced and qualified Social Worker with strong leadership abilities and a passion for crisis intervention? Oxfordshire’s Emergency Duty Team is seeking a dynamic Assistant Team Manager (ATM) to oversee emergency social work services outside of regular working hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays. This critical role ensures that vulnerable individuals and families receive prompt support when they need it most.
As an ATM, you will manage a team of dedicated social workers, providing oversight and decision-making in high-pressure, complex situations. Working closely with emergency services and health professionals, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring swift and effective responses to protect children and vulnerable adults across Oxfordshire.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and support the Emergency Duty Team to respond efficiently to crisis situations outside regular hours.

Oversee the assessment, intervention, and management of cases involving child protection, safeguarding adults, mental health crises, and homelessness.

Provide guidance to team members in managing high-risk and complex cases, ensuring compliance with statutory and legal frameworks.

Maintain accurate, timely records and reporting to ensure clear communication and follow-up for day teams.

Collaborate with multi-agency partners, including police, health services, and housing, to deliver coordinated responses.

Participate in regular training and development activities to ensure up-to-date knowledge and practice.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will be a resilient and adaptable Qualified Social Worker with experience managing complex cases and decision-making under pressure. You should be prepared for out-of-hours work and have the confidence to provide immediate direction and support to the team.
Essential Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker with active Social Work England registration.

Substantial experience in child and/or adult social care, ideally in emergency or crisis settings.

Demonstrated supervisory or team management experience, with strong leadership and decision-making skills.

Solid knowledge of child protection, safeguarding adults, mental health, and relevant legislation.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well under pressure.
