Rate: £38.50 per hour

The Looked After Children (LAC) Team in Havering is looking for a Qualified Social Worker to provide high-quality support to children and young people in care. The Role:

As a Social Worker in the LAC team, you will:

  • Manage a caseload of looked after children, ensuring they receive the right care, support, and opportunities to thrive.
  • Develop and review care plans, pathway plans, and permanency plans, ensuring they are tailored to each child's needs.
  • Work closely with foster carers, birth families, and partner agencies to secure the best outcomes for young people.
  • Carry out statutory visits, assessments, and direct work with children and young people to ensure their voices are heard in decision-making.
  • Prepare reports and attend court proceedings when necessary, advocating for children’s best interests.
  • Support young people transitioning to independence, helping them prepare for adulthood.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with Havering’s systemic practice model, which focuses on strengths-based, relationship-led social work.

What You Need:

  • A Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience working with Looked After Children, Care Leavers, or Children’s Services.
  • Strong knowledge of care planning regulations, fostering, and permanency options.
  • A commitment to restorative and relationship-based practice.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
