Havering Council is seeking an experienced and dynamic Team Manager to lead one of their frontline Safeguarding teams. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a leadership role in a borough that values high-quality practice, strong supervision, and clear outcomes for children and families. You’ll oversee work with Children in Need and Child Protection cases, ensuring that risk is managed effectively and practice standards remain consistently high.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Social Workers handling CIN and Child Protection cases

  • Provide reflective supervision, oversight, and case direction

  • Ensure statutory responsibilities are met and best practice standards maintained

  • Monitor performance, quality assure reports, and support service development

  • Work collaboratively with other teams, partners, and agencies

  • Represent the team in strategy meetings, legal planning, and management forums

Candidate Requirements

  • Social Work England registration

  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care

  • Proven experience managing or leading CIN and CP work

  • Strong supervisory, organisational, and decision-making skills

  • Ability to drive service improvements and model effective practice

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
