The London Borough of Hackney is seeking a skilled and motivated Consultant Social Worker/Assistant Team Manager to support the management of their Children in Need Team within children's services. This role offers a competitive rate of up to £40.50 per hour and the chance to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families.
About the Role:
As a Consultant Social Worker/Assistant Team Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the management of the Children in Need Team. You will work closely with the Team Manager to oversee the assessment, planning, and delivery of services for children and families who require additional support. Your experience and leadership will be key in guiding social workers, ensuring high standards of practice, and making critical decisions to protect and enhance the lives of children in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the management of the Children in Need Team, providing supervision, guidance, and support to social workers.
- Oversee case management, ensuring that children and families receive timely and effective interventions.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, safeguarding policies, and best practice standards.
- Work collaboratively with other agencies and professionals to achieve the best outcomes for children and families.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and professional development of the team.
Requirements:
- Qualified social worker with substantial experience in children's services, particularly with children in need.
- Social Work England registered.
- Experience in a leadership or supervisory role within social work teams.
- Strong understanding of legislation, policies, and best practices related to children’s services and safeguarding.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
