About the Role

Merton Council is seeking an Experienced Social Worker to join their Assessment & Intervention Team on a locum basis. You’ll play a key frontline role completing timely Child & Family Assessments, managing safeguarding concerns, and ensuring children’s voices remain central to every decision.

This is a fast-paced, dynamic service where strong analysis, clear planning, and confident multi-agency working are essential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Complete high-quality assessments within statutory timeframes.
  • Lead on Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries.
  • Work directly with children and families to understand lived experiences and risks.
  • Develop clear, robust plans to support safety and stability.
  • Prepare well-evidenced reports for panels, legal planning, and court where required.
  • Participate in reflective supervision and team discussions.
  • Work closely with health, education, police, and early help partners.
