Social Worker - Safeguarding Team

Location: Portsmouth

Rate: Up to £42/hr

Do you possess strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team? If so, we want you to join the team at Portsmouth Children's Service as a Social Worker in the Safeguarding Team.

Portsmouth Children's Service is dedicated to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people within the community. The safeguarding team plays a crucial role in identifying and addressing risks to children and ensuring they receive the support and protection they need.

The Role: As a Social Worker in the Safeguarding Team, you will be responsible for assessing the needs of children and families, identifying risks, and developing and implementing effective safeguarding plans. You will work closely with families, partner agencies, and other professionals to provide support, guidance, and interventions to promote the welfare of children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting assessments and investigations to evaluate risks to children and determine appropriate interventions.
  • Developing and implementing safeguarding plans in collaboration with families and partner agencies.
  • Providing support and guidance to children, young people, and families to address safeguarding concerns.
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, including health professionals, police, and schools, to coordinate services and support for children and families.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, interventions, and case progress.
  • Participating in team meetings, case conferences, and training to enhance professional development and practice.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification.
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience working within a safeguarding or child protection setting.
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children.
