Luton Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Social Worker to join their Family Help Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the frontline of early intervention and safeguarding support, helping families address challenges before they escalate into crisis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of children and families requiring support through the Family Help Service
  • Undertake assessments and develop robust support plans tailored to family needs
  • Provide early intervention to reduce risks and prevent escalation to statutory services
  • Work directly with children, parents, and carers to promote resilience and stability
  • Collaborate with partner agencies, including schools, health, and community organisations
  • Ensure all interventions keep the child’s voice central to planning and decision-making

Candidate Requirements

  • Social Work England registration
  • Post-qualified experience in children and families’ services, ideally family support, safeguarding, or early intervention
  • Good knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and related legislation
  • Strong assessment, planning, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-agency environment
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
