About the Role
Ealing Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join its Family Safeguarding service on a locum basis. The team works with children and families where there are safeguarding concerns, supporting parents to make sustainable changes and ensuring children remain safe and protected.
The Family Safeguarding model in Ealing is designed around strengths-based, multi-disciplinary practice, tackling the root causes of harm such as parental mental health, domestic abuse, and substance misuse. This approach enables families to build resilience while keeping children’s voices central to all decisions.
You’ll work within a supportive team environment, benefit from reflective supervision, and enjoy hybrid working with 2 days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake assessments and direct work with children and families under the Family Safeguarding framework.
- Develop robust child protection, safety, and care plans.
- Ensure children’s voices are prioritised in planning and decision-making.
- Collaborate effectively with parents, extended family, and partner agencies.
- Prepare evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, court, and statutory reviews.
- Record all casework accurately using the Mosaic case management system.
- Engage in reflective supervision and contribute to continuous team learning.
Practice Model & System Used
Ealing applies the Family Safeguarding model, focusing on empowering families to make positive changes while addressing risks in a multi-agency context. Tools such as motivational interviewing, family group conferencing, and structured risk assessments are central to the practice model.
All casework is managed on Mosaic, ensuring efficient case recording and joined-up working with partner services.
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
- Statutory experience in children’s safeguarding or family support.
- Skilled in assessment, planning, and risk management.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, strengths-based framework.
- Competent in case recording systems (Mosaic experience desirable).
