Havering Council is seeking a dedicated Fostering Social Worker to join their supportive and well-established Fostering Service. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision, guidance, and support to foster carers, ensuring they meet the needs of children in placement.

  • Conduct comprehensive fostering assessments using Havering’s strengths-based practice model.

  • Develop and implement support plans tailored to both the needs of the children and their foster families.

  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners to ensure placements are stable, safe, and supportive.

  • Facilitate foster carer training, development sessions, and support groups.

  • Participate in fostering panel presentations and contribute to decision-making processes.

  • Undertake Form F assessments and support kinship carers as part of the Connected Persons fostering process.

  • Complete regular reviews of foster carers, ensuring compliance with fostering regulations and Havering’s policies.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.

  • Experience in a fostering service or children’s social care setting.

  • Strong understanding of fostering regulations, the Children Act 1989, and relevant safeguarding legislation.

  • Excellent assessment, relationship-building, and advocacy skills.

  • Ability to work flexibly in a hybrid role, with office attendance as required.
