Independent Reviewing Officer- Children In Care Service

Are you an experienced and passionate Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) looking for a challenging and rewarding role? Nottingham's local authority is seeking a dedicated professional to join our Children in Care Team, ensuring the voices of children and young people are heard and their care plans are in their best interest.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Chairing statutory reviews for children in care, ensuring that their care plans meet their needs and are regularly reviewed.

  • Advocating for children and young people, ensuring their views are heard and acted upon in all decisions affecting their lives.

  • Monitoring the progress of care plans, identifying and escalating concerns as needed to ensure timely and appropriate action is taken.

  • Working collaboratively with social workers, carers, and other professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to children and young people.

  • Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and best practice standards for children in care.

  • Providing professional challenge and oversight to ensure that the local authority is meeting its duties towards children in care.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker (Degree in Social Work or equivalent).

  • Registration with Social Work England.

  • Significant experience in children’s social care, particularly with children in care.

  • Strong understanding of legislation and regulations relating to children in care, including the Children Act 1989.

  • Excellent communication, advocacy, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to independently review and challenge care plans in a constructive and professional manner.
