Independent Reviewing Officer - Kent

Role:  IRO
Location:  Kent
Pay:  up to £55,658 per annum 
Contract:  Full Time (Permanent)

Our Local Authority client in Kent is currently looking for a IRO to join their team in Children’s Services. 

The role:

To co-ordinate and chair looked after children’s reviews within statutory timescales placing the child at the centre of the reviewing process ensuring their thoughts and feelings are considered in the planning process.

To review and monitor the effectiveness of care plans for looked after children.

To ensure that Care plans are promptly implemented, that agreed actions are being progressed and that there is no drift in permanency planning.

To ensure that there is appropriate preparation for LAC reviews and to follow up any concerns regarding Bradford MDC as a Corporate Parent.

Key Responsibilities:

To monitor the Local Authority’s review of looked after children’s care plans, ensuring that actions required to implement the care plan are progressed and carried out in a timely manner and that outcomes are monitored.

To endorse care plans, make and record recommendations and actions that are required to meet the reviewed child’s needs, achieving timely outcomes.

To make recommendations about discontinuing the child protection plans for children subject to such plans who become looked after.

To refer to relevant Senior Managers cases and practice that are not addressing the care plan and to implement guidance and procedure for the referral to CAFCASS where the criteria for doing so is met.

To meet with children to ascertain their wishes and feelings and ensure that this are considered within the planning and review process.

To be considered as a IRO for this role in Kent you will also need:

HCPC Registration
Social Work Qualification
Recent DBS Check
Previous IRO Experience (desirable)
