Elevate your career in safeguarding and child protection with a pivotal role that commands a rewarding rate of £33.30 per hour. A respected Local Authority in the West Midlands seeks a dedicated and experienced Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) to join their team on a locum basis.

In this crucial position, the successful candidate will serve as a linchpin for safeguarding children and young people within the community. This entails managing the Position of Trust process, ensuring the safety of children in relation to adults across various sectors, and upholding statutory requirements with the utmost diligence.

The role demands a professional who can navigate a multitude of sensitive relationships, both within the Corporation, spanning Directorates such as Children’s Services, Clean & Green, and Leisure Services, and with a broad spectrum of external agencies. This includes, but is not limited to, schools, education and early years providers, health services, police, and a range of charitable and community groups at local, regional, and national levels.

Responsibilities extend to collaborating with HR services, informing senior leaders of potential reputational risks, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of national safeguarding policies. The role also involves developing and delivering high-quality training on safeguarding and positions of trust, with a commitment to continuous improvement based on feedback and emerging themes.

Candidates must possess a solid background in safeguarding with proven experience in a similar role. Exceptional relationship management skills, a comprehensive understanding of statutory requirements, and the ability to deliver effective training are essential.
