MASH Social Worker – Oxfordshire County Council
Location: Oxford, Oxfordshire
Rate: £42 per hour
Contract: Ongoing
Start: ASAP

We are recruiting on behalf of Oxfordshire County Council for a MASH Social Worker to join their highly regarded Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub. This is a great opportunity to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment where early and effective safeguarding decision-making is at the core of practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Triage and assess new safeguarding referrals from professionals and the public

  • Use multi-agency information sharing to determine levels of risk and thresholds

  • Make timely decisions on next steps, including signposting, early help, or statutory intervention

  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies including police, education, and health services

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to a robust safeguarding response

Safeguarding Approach:
Oxfordshire’s MASH is a key part of the county’s strength-based, child-centred safeguarding model, aiming to ensure that children and families receive the right support at the right time. The team works closely with Early Help, Assessment, and statutory services to ensure smooth transitions and prevent unnecessary escalation.

The council promotes a restorative practice ethos, focusing on building relationships and working with families rather than doing to them. Their commitment to reflective supervision and learning is evident across the service.

Ofsted:
Ofsted has rated Oxfordshire as ‘Good’ overall, with particular praise for the MASH’s timely responses and high-quality decision-making. The report also noted effective leadership and a strong culture of continuous improvement.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Social Work England registration

  • Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience in children’s statutory services

  • MASH, referral & assessment, or safeguarding experience essential

  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to have one obtained through Sheldon Phillips free of charge!

This is a well-paid, stable locum role within a forward-thinking authority with a strong reputation for effective safeguarding and partnership working. If you are looking for a role where your frontline expertise can make an immediate impact, this is the ideal placement.
