Job Overview:

Are you an experienced Social Worker with a passion for adoption? We are seeking a dedicated part-time Adoption Social Worker to join our team in Manchester. Employed by Bury Council and working with Adoption Now, the Regional Adoption Agency, you will hold children’s cases from the point of placement order to adoption order. This crucial role involves family finding and managing the statutory social work duties associated with children placed for adoption.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Hold and manage cases of children from the point of placement order to the final adoption order, ensuring that all statutory duties are fulfilled.
  • Family Finding: Actively search for and identify suitable adoptive families for children, working closely with colleagues and partner agencies.
  • Adoption Planning: Develop and implement adoption plans tailored to each child's needs, ensuring their best interests are always prioritized.
  • Support: Provide ongoing support to children and prospective adoptive families throughout the adoption process, addressing any issues or concerns that may arise.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work in collaboration with Adoption Now, the Regional Adoption Agency, and other professionals to ensure a seamless and effective adoption process.
  • Statutory Duties: Complete all necessary statutory tasks, including preparing reports, attending court, and participating in review meetings.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed case records, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
     

Requirements:

  • Social Work England (SWE) registration is essential.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in social work, with significant experience in adoption.
  • Strong understanding of the adoption process and related statutory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and case management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to promoting the best outcomes for children and families in the adoption process.
