Your Role in SWWF and Assessment Teams:
As a Social Worker or Senior Social Worker, you’ll hold a manageable caseload of children and families requiring intervention under:
- Section 17 (Child in Need)
- Section 47 (Child Protection)
- Initial Court Applications where necessary
Working with families for up to 12 weeks during assessments, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting timely and thorough assessments to identify risks and needs, such as Single Assessments or Strategy Meetings.
- Coordinating Section 47 investigations to ensure children’s safety, working collaboratively with multi-agency partners.
- Creating robust Child in Need plans to support families in achieving stability and positive outcomes.
- Preparing high-quality court reports and statements for care proceedings where required.
- Building trusting relationships with children to understand their wishes, ensuring their voices are at the heart of your work.
- Using Croydon’s Systemic Practice Model to deliver strengths-based, holistic family interventions.
What We’re Looking For:
- Social Work England Registration (essential).
- 3+ years’ proven experience in Children’s Services teams, ideally within Assessment or Child Protection.
- Strong skills in decision-making, communication, and time management.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989/2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018).
