We are seeking a skilled and experienced Social Worker to join our team as a Community Deprivation of Liberty (DoL) Practitioner for a local authority in Central London. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional who is confident in applying to the Court of Protection for Community DoLs and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable adults.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake complex assessments and apply to the Court of Protection for Community DoLs to ensure that individuals are supported in the least restrictive way possible.
- Work closely with individuals, their families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure appropriate care and support are in place.
- Ensure compliance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
- Complete high-quality reports and evidence-based assessments for the Court of Protection.
- Work collaboratively with other professionals, including legal teams, healthcare professionals, and other local authority services.
- Manage a caseload of complex cases, providing expert guidance and support to service users and their families.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker with a degree in Social Work.
- Social Work England registration is essential.
- Proven experience in applying to the Court of Protection for Community DoLs.
- A thorough understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
- Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage a caseload effectively.
Desirable:
- Best Interests Assessor (BIA) qualification is highly desirable but not essential.
