Job Description:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Adult Social Worker to join our Mental Health Team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in assessing and supporting individuals under the Mental Health Act 1983, advocating for their rights, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments and make informed decisions under the Mental Health Act 1983, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practice guidelines.
- Act as a key member of the Mental Health Act assessment team, contributing to the safe and effective delivery of services.
- Collaborate with individuals, families, carers, and relevant professionals to formulate care plans that meet the unique needs of each person.
- Advocate for the rights and preferences of individuals within the legal framework, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to individuals experiencing mental health crises, helping to stabilize situations and facilitate appropriate care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, decisions, and interventions, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, contributing to the development of holistic care plans that address all aspects of an individual's needs.
- Stay informed about changes in mental health legislation, and actively participate in ongoing professional development activities to maintain and enhance your expertise.
Requirements:
- Qualification: Must hold a degree in Social Work.
- Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience in statutory work, including the Care Act, safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act (MCA), and Best Interests Assessor (BIA) roles.
- Skills: Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and in complex situations, with a strong commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of individuals with mental health needs.
- Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility: Willingness to participate in on-call duties as required.
