Wigan Council is looking for an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join their Children in Care Team 4. This is a vital role supporting children and young people who are looked after, ensuring their care plans promote safety, stability, and long-term outcomes.
The role focuses on direct work with children, pathway planning, placement with parents, and life story work. You’ll need to be confident using Liquid Logic and experienced in working with separated young people and care-experienced children.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage a caseload of children in care across a variety of ages and needs

Complete and review care plans, pathway plans, and placement arrangements

Undertake life story work to support children's understanding of their journey

Work closely with parents, carers, IROs and partner agencies

Prepare and present reports for LAC reviews and other statutory meetings

Maintain up-to-date case notes using Liquid Logic
Practice Model:
Wigan promotes child-centred practice, focusing on achieving stability and permanence for children in care. You’ll be joining a supportive and well-structured team, with free parking available for staff based at council offices.
Essential Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England

Previous experience in Children in Care teams

Strong knowledge of care planning, pathway planning, and life story work

Experience working with separated young people and placement with parents

Confident using Liquid Logic case management system
