Children’s Social Worker | Court and Locality Service | Hybrid Working
Manchester City Council is seeking an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join their Court and Locality Service. This is a dynamic, fast-paced role working with children subject to Child in Need, Child Protection, Pre-Proceedings, and Care Proceedings.
You’ll work alongside a supportive team of six social workers, including two advanced practitioners, with consistent management oversight, monthly supervision, and access to ongoing training.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage CIN, CP, pre-proceedings, and court cases

Complete assessments, care plans, and safety plans

Build effective relationships with children and families

Work towards timely permanence planning
-
Engage in direct work to safeguard and support children

Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team
Practice Model:
The role is primarily office-based, promoting a strong team culture and peer support, with home working available by agreement with the Team Manager. Free car parking is available within a short walking distance of the office.
Essential Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England

Minimum 3 years’ post-qualified experience in permanent roles

Proven experience managing CIN, CP, and court-related cases

Skilled in assessments, planning, and direct work

Strong understanding of safeguarding frameworks

Full-time availability
