Qualified Children's Social Worker - Duty & Assessment

Duty and Assessment Social Worker | Locum | Up to £39 per hour
Hybrid Working | Office Base – Minimum 1 Day per Week

Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join a busy Duty and Assessment Team on a locum basis. This role requires a minimum of 3 years’ social work experience within a permanent role (verification will be checked in line with DfE guidelines).

You’ll be working in a fast-paced environment where you will carry out assessments, strategy discussions, and planning to safeguard children at risk while ensuring families receive the right support at the right time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete initial assessments during duty week
  • Attend and contribute to strategy meetings and undertake Section 47 investigations
  • Formulate and execute Child in Need plans and attend CIN reviews
  • Progress cases to ICPC, PLO, and Court where necessary (PLO/Court experience desirable but not essential)
  • Build effective working relationships with children, families, and partner agencies to support positive outcomes

Flexibility & Working Arrangements:

  • Hybrid working supported (home and office) as long as work is completed
  • At least 1 day per week in the office during non-duty weeks (team day)
  • Office-based every day during duty week (every 4–5 weeks)

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
  • Minimum of 3 years’ permanent social work experience (as per DfE verification guidelines)
  • Strong background in duty, assessment, and safeguarding practice
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment

Contract Details:

  • Locum role in the Duty and Assessment Team
  • Pay up to £39 per hour
