Frontline Services | Office-Based | 3-Month Contract
Manchester City Council is recruiting an experienced Children’s Social Worker for a 3-month assignment supporting vulnerable children and families across the city. This is a frontline role working across Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children cases.
The position requires full-time office-based working (35 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 08:45–16:30) and an ASAP start. You must hold a full driving licence and have access to a car for community visits.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage a caseload of CIN, CP, and LAC cases

Undertake pre-proceedings and work within public and private law frameworks

Contribute to adoption proceedings where necessary

Prepare comprehensive assessments and court documentation
-
Work closely with partner agencies to safeguard and support children

Ensure accurate and timely case recording
Practice Model:
This is a busy frontline role within a supportive team environment. You’ll be expected to hit the ground running with a strong understanding of legal frameworks and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
Essential Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in children’s frontline services

Experience of pre-proceedings and legal processes (public/private law and adoption)

Must be a car driver with full UK driving licence

Comfortable with full-time, office-based working
