Part-Time Opportunity – Social Worker (Care Leavers)
Role Overview:
Barnsley Council is seeking a passionate and experienced Social Worker to support and develop the Care Leavers Council. This part-time opportunity offers a chance to work collaboratively with care-experienced young people, ensuring their voices are heard and their views influence the decisions that affect them.
You will take a leading role in expanding the scope, purpose, and membership of the Care Leavers Council while contributing to workforce development projects that strengthen practice across services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and growth of the Care Leavers Council
- Work directly with care-experienced young people to ensure meaningful engagement and advocacy
- Undertake targeted projects with teams to embed key practices across services
- Support the integration of learning and development within the workforce
- Use creative and innovative approaches to engage young people and amplify their voices
- Provide leadership in service development and improvement initiatives
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
- Relevant experience in children’s social care, ideally with care leavers
- Strong leadership skills, with experience in project or service development
- Excellent engagement and advocacy skills with young people
- Strong communication, presentation, and organisational abilities
- Passion for learning, development, and positive change
Contract Details:
- Part-time locum role
- Pay up to £37 per hour
