Qualified Children's Social Worker - Safeguarding

Blackburn with Darwen Children’s Services is recruiting experienced and motivated Social Workers to join their Safeguarding Service. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive local authority that values strong practice and positive outcomes for children and families.

This is a full-time, 3-month agency role with an immediate start. The service offers flexible working arrangements, including both home-based and office-based work depending on operational need. You’ll receive regular supervision and be welcomed into a friendly, well-functioning team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of children and families within Safeguarding and Child Protection

  • Undertake S47 enquiries, Child and Family Assessments, and court work

  • Develop effective plans to safeguard children and promote their welfare

  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals

  • Maintain accurate and timely case records and reports

  • Use professional judgment to make child-centred decisions under pressure

Practice Model:
The Safeguarding Service operates a child-focused, strength-based approach that prioritises early intervention and relationship-based social work. You'll be part of a team that works to keep children safe while supporting families to make sustainable changes.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England

  • At least 3 years’ experience in Safeguarding, CP, and Court work

  • Ability to plan, prioritise, and manage a varied caseload

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently

  • Car driver with access to a vehicle

  • Experience using Liquid Logic (desirable but not essential)
