Advanced Practitioner | Safeguarding & Care Planning | 3 Days in Office

Oldham Council is recruiting a confident and experienced Advanced Practitioner to join their Safeguarding and Care Planning Team. This is a crucial leadership role supporting the team with complex casework, reflective supervision, and maintaining high standards of child-centred practice.

You’ll be based in the office at least 3 days per week, contributing to a stable, high-performing team where your skills will have a direct impact on outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support on complex safeguarding and care planning cases

  • Provide mentoring and case direction to social workers and less experienced staff

  • Ensure timely and robust assessments, planning, and interventions

  • Promote reflective supervision and best practice within the team

  • Liaise effectively with multi-agency professionals and contribute to strategy meetings

Practice Model:
Oldham’s safeguarding model focuses on child-first interventions, permanency planning, and strong multi-agency collaboration. As an Advanced Practitioner, you will be central to delivering safe, timely decisions and consistent outcomes for vulnerable children.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England

  • Significant post-qualified experience in safeguarding and care planning

  • Proven ability to lead practice and support staff development

  • Excellent assessment, supervision, and risk management skills

  • Minimum 3 days per week in-office (Oldham-based)
