Children’s Senior Practitioner – Safeguarding and Support
Locum Role | Family Safeguarding Model | Hybrid Working
Walsall Council is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join their Children’s Safeguarding and Support Service within the North locality. This is a locum role working under the Family Safeguarding Model, focusing on families in need and at risk.
You’ll be working closely with adult practitioners to provide coordinated, whole-family support and will help safeguard children while supporting families to create lasting change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hold a caseload of complex safeguarding and support cases
- Work under the Family Safeguarding Model alongside adult practitioners
- Engage families through relationship-based practice to promote safety and stability
- Contribute to multi-agency planning and support interventions
- Maintain high-quality case records and assessments in line with statutory expectations
- Provide support and mentoring to less experienced colleagues as a Senior Practitioner
Working Arrangements:
- Hybrid model: 3 days per week in the office, 2 days remote
- Based in Walsall’s North locality
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
- Substantial post-qualified experience in children’s safeguarding
- Strong understanding of the Family Safeguarding approach
- Confident in managing risk, planning, and delivering interventions
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
