Children’s Senior Practitioner – Safeguarding and Support
Locum Role | Family Safeguarding Model | Hybrid Working

Walsall Council is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join their Children’s Safeguarding and Support Service within the North locality. This is a locum role working under the Family Safeguarding Model, focusing on families in need and at risk.

You’ll be working closely with adult practitioners to provide coordinated, whole-family support and will help safeguard children while supporting families to create lasting change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hold a caseload of complex safeguarding and support cases
  • Work under the Family Safeguarding Model alongside adult practitioners
  • Engage families through relationship-based practice to promote safety and stability
  • Contribute to multi-agency planning and support interventions
  • Maintain high-quality case records and assessments in line with statutory expectations
  • Provide support and mentoring to less experienced colleagues as a Senior Practitioner

Working Arrangements:

  • Hybrid model: 3 days per week in the office, 2 days remote
  • Based in Walsall’s North locality

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
  • Substantial post-qualified experience in children’s safeguarding
  • Strong understanding of the Family Safeguarding approach
  • Confident in managing risk, planning, and delivering interventions
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
