Team Manager | West Locality | Children’s Social Care

Walsall Council is seeking a confident and experienced Team Manager to join their West Locality Team in Darlaston. This is a key leadership role overseeing frontline social work practice, ensuring robust safeguarding and high-quality service delivery for children and families in the area.

The role is based within the Locality structure, managing a team responsible for a range of complex Child in Need and Child Protection cases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of qualified social workers and support staff

• Provide reflective supervision, case direction, and performance oversight

• Ensure timely assessments, planning, and interventions in line with statutory requirements

• Promote good practice and uphold the council’s safeguarding responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with internal services and external partners

Practice Model:
The Locality Teams in Walsall operate a strengths-based, child-focused model with an emphasis on effective relationship-building, clear risk management, and achieving positive outcomes through early intervention and consistent planning.

Essential Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England

• Substantial frontline experience, including management or senior practitioner roles

• Strong understanding of child protection procedures and relevant legislation

• Proven ability to lead, supervise, and motivate social work teams

• Ability to work flexibly in a busy, multi-agency environment
