Team Manager | West Locality | Children’s Social Care
Walsall Council is seeking a confident and experienced Team Manager to join their West Locality Team in Darlaston. This is a key leadership role overseeing frontline social work practice, ensuring robust safeguarding and high-quality service delivery for children and families in the area.
The role is based within the Locality structure, managing a team responsible for a range of complex Child in Need and Child Protection cases.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team of qualified social workers and support staff

Provide reflective supervision, case direction, and performance oversight

Ensure timely assessments, planning, and interventions in line with statutory requirements

Promote good practice and uphold the council’s safeguarding responsibilities

Work collaboratively with internal services and external partners

The Locality Teams in Walsall operate a strengths-based, child-focused model with an emphasis on effective relationship-building, clear risk management, and achieving positive outcomes through early intervention and consistent planning.
Essential Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England

Substantial frontline experience, including management or senior practitioner roles

Strong understanding of child protection procedures and relevant legislation

Proven ability to lead, supervise, and motivate social work teams

Ability to work flexibly in a busy, multi-agency environment
