Team Manager | MASH (Duty) Team | Office-Based Leadership
Wigan Council is looking for an experienced Duty Team Manager to lead their Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). This is a pivotal role in ensuring timely and effective decision-making for children and families at the front door of social care.
You’ll be managing a fast-paced environment where information-sharing, risk assessment, and partnership collaboration are critical to safeguarding outcomes. Strong leadership, decision-making, and MASH experience are essential.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage the day-to-day running of the MASH/Duty Team

Provide leadership, oversight, and quality assurance of all incoming referrals

Triage cases and ensure swift progression to appropriate teams
-
Liaise with internal and external partners to support multi-agency safeguarding decisions

Supervise and support social workers and duty staff within a high-pressure setting
Practice Model:
Wigan’s MASH operates as a central access point for all children’s safeguarding concerns. The focus is on high-quality threshold decisions, efficient information gathering, and immediate action where risk is identified.
Essential Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England

Previous management experience within a MASH or duty setting

Strong safeguarding knowledge and decision-making capability

Excellent communication and partnership-working skills
-
Able to work on-site as required for duty responsibilities
