Dorset County Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Qualified Social Worker to join our Child Protection Team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people at risk, delivering high-quality support and interventions to protect and safeguard vulnerable children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Child Protection: Manage a caseload of children subject to child protection plans, ensuring timely interventions and support to safeguard their well-being.
  • Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments of children’s needs in line with the Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation.
  • Care Plans: Develop, implement, and review child protection and care plans, working closely with families and multi-agency partners.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Liaise with professionals across health, education, and law enforcement to deliver a coordinated approach to child protection and safeguarding.
  • Reports and Court Proceedings: Prepare detailed reports for case reviews, child protection conferences, and legal proceedings, including giving evidence in court when necessary.
  • Family Support: Work with families to provide advice, guidance, and intervention aimed at achieving positive outcomes for children and promoting family resilience.
  • Record Keeping: Ensure all case records and documentation are accurately maintained using Dorset County Council’s systems.

Requirements:

  • Qualification: Degree in Social Work or equivalent, with registration in good standing with Social Work England.
  • Experience: Previous experience in child protection, safeguarding, and statutory children’s services.
  • Skills: Strong communication, assessment, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex cases.
  • Knowledge: Thorough understanding of relevant child protection legislation and procedures.
