Social Worker – Children with Disabilities Team
(Achieving for Children, Richmond & Kingston areas)
Salary: £42,771 – £45,750 (SCP29–32) + £3,000 Annual Market Supplement
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Permanent, full-time, hybrid working
About the Role
Achieving for Children (AfC) is a not-for-profit social enterprise owned by three local authorities (Windsor & Maidenhead, Kingston, and Richmond). AfC combines the freedoms of a social enterprise with the benefits of local government, offering a supportive, innovative, and professional environment for social workers.
We are looking for Qualified Social Workers to join our Children with Disabilities Team, working with disabled children and their families from referral through to adult services. The team provides holistic, child-centred social work, focusing on assessment, care planning, and multi-agency collaboration to ensure positive outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities

Assess the needs of children with disabilities and their families, developing tailored care plans.

Chair meetings and review progress to ensure objectives are being met.

Engage children, young people, and families in planning, ensuring the voice of the child is central.

Contribute to service projects and development initiatives.

Support and mentor students and newly qualified staff, with opportunities for Practice Educator training.

Act as a link professional for local specialist schools.

Maintain accurate records and reports in line with statutory requirements.
Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.

Experience working with disabled children and families.

Skilled in assessment, planning, and managing risk.

Knowledge of statutory legislation affecting children’s services (e.g., Children Act).

Ability to work effectively within multi-agency teams.

Commitment to reflective practice and professional development.
