Children’s Social Worker – Families First Localities (Child in Need)
Hybrid Working | Trafford
Trafford Council is seeking experienced and committed Children’s Social Workers to join their Families First Localities Team, delivering a specialist Child in Need service across the borough. This is a hybrid role combining home and office-based working.
You will work on a locality basis with families requiring social work assessment and hold a manageable CIN caseload. The service is designed to ensure consistent, high-quality support and planning for children in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake Section 47 enquiries and Child & Family Assessments
- Hold and manage Child in Need caseloads
- Complete duty work as part of a structured team rota
- Build strong, relational partnerships to support families effectively
- Work towards timely step-downs where appropriate
- Support UASC (Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children), including conducting Age Assessments (desirable)
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
- Proven experience in Children’s Social Care, particularly Child in Need
- Strong assessment, planning, and partnership-working skills
- Experience with UASC and Age Assessments is highly desirable
