Social Worker – Fostering (Kinship Team) – Medway

Location: Medway Council
Pay/Salary: Up to £38.00 per hour (Umbrella)
Office Working: Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office
Contract: Locum

We are currently working with Medway Council to recruit an experienced Social Worker for their Fostering Kinship Team.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Children's Social Worker to join a specialist service working with kinship carers and families. Previous Local Authority experience is essential, and applicants must have at least three years' post-qualifying experience gained within a permanent Local Authority position.

Duties

  • Undertaking assessments of prospective kinship carers.
  • Working directly with family members and wider family networks.
  • Completing robust, evidence-based assessments and reports.
  • Supporting kinship carers throughout the assessment process.
  • Identifying strengths, risks and support needs within potential placements.
  • Working collaboratively with Children's Social Care teams and partner agencies.
  • Ensuring assessments are completed within required timescales.
  • Maintaining clear, accurate and timely case records.
  • Contributing to effective permanence planning for children.
  • Ensuring the child's welfare remains central to assessment and decision-making.

What you need

  • Social Work Qualification.
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Minimum 3 years' post-qualifying experience.
  • Experience working in a permanent Local Authority Social Work post.
  • Relevant Children's Social Care experience.
  • Current, in-date DBS required at interview stage.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Access to your own vehicle with business insurance, including cover for carrying passengers.
  • Ability to attend the office 3 days per week.
  • Applicants must be able to work within the advertised rate of £38.00 per hour.
