Medway’s local authority is looking for a committed Social Worker to join our Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) Team. This unique role provides an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people seeking asylum, ensuring they receive the support, guidance, and safeguarding they need during a critical time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Holistic Assessments: Conduct assessments to understand each young person's needs, ensuring they have appropriate access to housing, education, healthcare, and emotional support.
  • Support Planning: Develop comprehensive care plans that address each individual’s safety, integration, and well-being, promoting resilience and positive outcomes.
  • Safeguarding: Ensure robust safeguarding practices are in place to protect vulnerable young people, working closely with other agencies as needed.
  • Case Management: Manage a small caseload, allowing for in-depth support, advocacy, and ongoing care tailored to each young person's circumstances.
  • Legal Support: Assist young people in navigating the asylum and immigration process, liaising with legal advisors, immigration services, and supporting youth through legal proceedings.
  • Multi-Agency Work: Collaborate with educational, healthcare, and community organisations to establish support networks and ensure a coordinated response to each young person's needs.
