Responsibilities:

  • Managing a caseload of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, ensuring their needs are met through effective care planning and intervention
  • Conducting thorough assessments to understand the needs, risks, and cultural considerations for each child
  • Developing and implementing personalised care plans in collaboration with children, foster carers, and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Providing support and guidance to foster carers and residential staff to ensure high-quality care
  • Preparing detailed reports and attending court proceedings when necessary
  • Engaging with children and young people to understand their views and wishes, ensuring their voices are heard and respected
  • Liaising with other social work teams, legal representatives, and external agencies to provide comprehensive support for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
  • Proven experience in working with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children or vulnerable children
  • Strong assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage a diverse caseload
  • Cultural sensitivity and understanding of the unique challenges faced by unaccompanied asylum-seeking children
