Milton Keynes Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Qualified Social Worker to join our Children with Disabilities Team. In this role, you will support children and young people with disabilities, working alongside families and other professionals to deliver person-centred care and safeguarding. Your expertise will ensure children receive the support they need to thrive and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:

Case Management: Manage a caseload of children and young people with disabilities, conducting thorough assessments to identify their needs and ensuring appropriate services are in place.

Care Planning: Develop, implement, and review care plans in collaboration with families, carers, and other professionals, ensuring the welfare and development of the child are prioritised.

Safeguarding: Act as an advocate for children with disabilities, identifying safeguarding concerns and taking timely action to protect their well-being.

Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work with education, health, and other agencies to deliver integrated support for children with disabilities, ensuring all professionals involved are aligned to meet the child’s needs.

Family Support: Provide advice and guidance to families, empowering them to better understand the services and resources available to support their children.

Reporting and Legal Work: Prepare and present reports for multi-agency meetings and court proceedings as required, ensuring the child’s best interests are always represented.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all casework, ensuring compliance with Milton Keynes Council’s policies and safeguarding standards.
Requirements:

Qualification: Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) with active registration with Social Work England.

Experience: Proven experience working with children with disabilities and their families, with a strong understanding of the Children Act 1989 and safeguarding procedures.

Skills: Excellent communication, assessment, and care planning skills, with the ability to manage complex cases and build strong working relationships with families and professionals.

Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the legislation, policies, and practices relevant to supporting children with disabilities.
