Suffolk County Council is seeking an experienced and proactive Qualified Social Worker to join our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Team. In this critical role, you will work within a multi-disciplinary team to assess and respond to safeguarding concerns, ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable children. This is a fast-paced role, requiring excellent decision-making skills and a strong commitment to child protection.
Key Responsibilities:

Risk Assessment: Conduct timely assessments of referrals received by the MASH team, identifying risks and making informed decisions about the level of intervention required.

Information Gathering: Work collaboratively with partner agencies such as police, health, and education to gather relevant information to support safeguarding decisions.

Safeguarding Response: Make clear and concise recommendations on safeguarding actions, including signposting to appropriate services or escalation for further child protection interventions.

Multi-Agency Collaboration: Liaise with professionals from various sectors to ensure a coordinated response to child protection concerns, promoting the safety and welfare of children.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on case management systems, ensuring compliance with Suffolk County Council’s policies and safeguarding standards.

Crisis Management: Respond to urgent safeguarding concerns, managing risk effectively and ensuring immediate actions are taken to protect children from harm.

Legal Proceedings: Where necessary, prepare reports for court proceedings and represent the MASH team in legal matters relating to child protection.
Requirements:

Qualification: Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and registration with Social Work England.

Experience: Proven experience in safeguarding and child protection, ideally within a MASH or similar multi-agency environment.

Skills: Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in a high-pressure environment. Experience in managing complex and sensitive cases.

Knowledge: Thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures, child protection legislation, and best practices in a multi-agency setting.
