About the Role
Harrow Borough Council is seeking a Qualified Social Worker to join our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding children and vulnerable individuals, providing essential assessments and support in response to safeguarding concerns. As a key member of the MASH team, you will work closely with other professionals across health, education, police, and other agencies to ensure that children and families receive the right support at the right time.

This is an exciting opportunity for a social worker with experience in safeguarding and assessments to take on a challenging and rewarding caseload within a well-established and supportive team. You will be expected to make timely, well-informed decisions regarding child protection concerns and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the MASH.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of children and families in response to safeguarding concerns, ensuring appropriate referrals and interventions are made.

  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including health, education, and law enforcement, to gather relevant information and assess risk.

  • Make critical decisions regarding the safety and welfare of children, ensuring that necessary protective actions are taken promptly.

  • Manage a varied caseload of cases, responding to urgent safeguarding issues and ensuring compliance with statutory duties and timescales.

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues within the MASH and other professionals involved in child protection.

  • Ensure that all case documentation, reports, and assessments are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings and provide expert input into the decision-making process.

  • Keep up to date with changes to legislation, policies, and best practices in safeguarding and child protection.

About You

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced social worker who has:

  • Qualifications: A degree in Social Work and current registration with Social Work England.

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience, with demonstrable experience in child protection, safeguarding, and assessment within a MASH or similar setting.

  • Skills: Strong assessment, report writing, and decision-making skills. Ability to assess risk and make informed, evidence-based decisions.

  • Collaboration: Experience working in a multi-agency environment and liaising with various professionals to ensure the best outcomes for children and families.

  • Attributes: Strong communication skills, resilience, and a child-focused approach to safeguarding and protection.

  • Other: Ability to work under pressure, manage a busy caseload, and meet tight deadlines.
