Social Worker | Safeguarding | Salford Council | £39 per hour
Salford Council are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Safeguarding service on an agency basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a well-structured and supportive team, focused on protecting children and achieving positive long-term outcomes through effective statutory intervention.
You will be joining a service committed to high-quality practice, manageable caseloads, and strong multi-agency collaboration, with a clear focus on safeguarding children at risk of harm.
Role Overview
As a Safeguarding Social Worker, you will work with children subject to Child Protection plans, Child in Need plans, and care proceedings where required. You will carry a varied caseload involving complex safeguarding concerns and will play a key role in risk assessment, care planning, and delivering interventions that promote stability and positive change.
This role requires confident decision-making, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced statutory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of children subject to Child Protection and Child in Need plans
- Undertake comprehensive assessments, including Section 47 enquiries
- Develop and review care and protection plans to reduce risk and improve outcomes
- Prepare high-quality reports for conferences, reviews, and court proceedings
- Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings and strategy discussions
- Work closely with partner agencies to ensure coordinated safeguarding interventions
- Maintain accurate and timely case recordings in line with statutory requirements
- Ensure the child’s voice is central to all assessments and planning

Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker (Degree/DipSW/CQSW)
- Registration with Social Work England
- Significant experience within Children’s Safeguarding teams
- Strong knowledge of Child Protection processes and legislation
- Experience of court work and care proceedings
- Ability to manage complex caseloads effectively
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills
- Flexible and proactive approach to work
