Senior Practitioner – Learning Team | Birmingham Children's Trust | £33.30 per hour

Sheldon Phillips are working in partnership with Birmingham Children's Trust to recruit an experienced Senior Practitioner to join their Learning Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an accomplished practitioner who is passionate about professional development, quality practice and supporting others to achieve excellent outcomes for children and families.

The Learning Team plays a key role in developing and embedding high-quality social work practice across the organisation. Working closely with practitioners, managers and partners, you will support the delivery of learning initiatives, promote continuous improvement and contribute to the development of a confident and skilled workforce.

Role Overview

As a Senior Practitioner within the Learning Team, you will use your extensive frontline experience to support the learning and development of social workers across Birmingham Children's Trust. You will contribute to the design and delivery of training, facilitate reflective learning opportunities and help ensure that practice remains child-focused, evidence-informed and aligned with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of the Trust's learning and development programme.
  • Design and facilitate training sessions, workshops and practice development activities.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and guidance to practitioners across Children's Services.
  • Promote reflective practice and support practitioners to identify learning needs.
  • Contribute to the induction and development of newly qualified and experienced social workers.
  • Support the implementation of new legislation, policies and practice frameworks.
  • Assist with practice audits and identify themes to inform future learning.
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams and managers to embed good practice.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives and organisational learning.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, research and developments within children's social care.

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Current Social Work England registration.
  • Significant post-qualified experience within Children's Services.
  • Previous experience as a Senior Practitioner, Advanced Practitioner, Practice Educator or within a learning and development function is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of children's legislation, safeguarding and best practice.
  • Experience delivering training, mentoring or supporting practitioner development.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Passion for continuous improvement and developing others.
