The London Borough of Barnet is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join their dedicated Child Protection Team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified social worker to take on a leadership position, ensuring the safety and well-being of children at risk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Oversee complex cases involving children at risk, providing expert guidance and support to team members.

  • Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments of children and families to identify risks and needs, ensuring timely interventions.

  • Care Planning: Develop and oversee the implementation of robust care plans in collaboration with children, families, and multi-agency partners.

  • Court Work: Prepare and present high-quality court reports, and represent the local authority in legal proceedings.

  • Supervision: Provide reflective supervision and support to junior staff, promoting professional development and high standards of practice.

  • Multi-Agency Working: Work closely with other agencies, including health, education, and the police, to safeguard children and promote their welfare.

  • Compliance: Ensure all work is conducted in line with statutory requirements, local policies, and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.

  • Significant experience in a Child Protection team, with a strong understanding of child protection legislation and procedures.

  • Proven ability to manage complex cases and make sound decisions under pressure.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

  • Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
