Rate: £42 per hour
Location: Hampshire (Hybrid working – office presence required)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join Hampshire’s Family Help Service. This service is focused on providing timely, proportionate, and effective support to children and families to prevent escalation and ensure children can thrive within their families and communities.

As a Senior Social Worker, you will bring strong practice knowledge, leadership, and decision-making skills to support families, mentor colleagues, and ensure safe, high-quality social work practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading on complex casework within the Family Help Service.

  • Supporting families through early intervention, child-in-need, and safeguarding processes.

  • Assessing risk and ensuring appropriate plans are in place to safeguard children.

  • Providing guidance, mentoring, and support to less experienced social workers.

  • Working closely with partner agencies to deliver coordinated family support.

  • Ensuring practice is consistent with statutory requirements and Hampshire’s model of strengths-based, relationship-led practice.

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with current SWE registration.

  • Significant experience in children’s social care (including safeguarding and family support).

  • Strong assessment, risk management, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with families and partner agencies.

  • Experience supporting or mentoring colleagues.

  • Willingness to work in a hybrid model with regular office presence in Hampshire.
